Listen now: Lady A’s “Pictures” is worth a thousand words

Walt Disney Television/Paula LoboThings aren’t always as they seem, as Lady Antebellum points out in “Pictures,” the latest taste of their debut album for Big Machine, which is expected later this year.

“Yeah, we sure looked happy in pictures/The camera doesn’t show the way it hurt,” the trio sings in the new track they co-wrote.

“We live in a world right now, especially with social media, where everyone’s lives can look happy and pretty,” Hillary Scott reflects. “We wrote this song to reflect on the reality that things are more complex than that.”

“As good as something might look in brief moments,” she adds, “there are so many layers to who people really are and what’s really going on. I love the juxtaposition of how this song’s lyrics dig in while feeling laid-back and groovy.”

Hillary, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood have already been performing “Pictures” in concert. Later this month, they return to the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas to wrap up their 2019 residency.

“Pictures” is available to stream or download now, and you can check out a live performance of the song on YouTube as well.

It’s the follow-up to their current top twenty-five hit, “What If I Never Get Over You.”
