Dan + Shay says singing “10,000 Hours” at Justin Bieber’s wedding was “a really good time”

Catherine Powell“10,000 Hours,” the new song from Justin Bieber and Dan + Shay, had its live performance debut in an unusual setting: Dan + Shay sang it at Justin Bieber’s recent wedding celebration.  And as they tell Entertainment Tonight, they had no idea they were going to do it.

“We had never rehearsed it,” Dan Smyers tells ET. We obviously recorded it in the studio, but we never played it live in front of actual human beings. [But] Justin was like, ‘Sing ‘10,000 hours,’ we’re like, ‘OK, we’ll try.’ “

Shay Mooney jokes that he and Dan were just “making up the words,” but Dan adds, “It was good though, it was really fun and people were out on the dance floor rocking.”

“It’s awesome to get to attend their wedding and it was a blast,” Dan notes. “It was a really good time.”

As for the collaboration, it came about because Justin and Dan + Shay are both managed by Scooter Braun, who put the duo in touch with Justin.

“We’ve always wanted to do some collaboration with [Justin] and we wrote the song and thought it would be perfect and sent it over to him not knowing what would happen,” says Shay. “He loved the song; he’s in a similar place in his life, just got married, and so it was really cool to have that moment all together.”

“The timing of it worked out and we still can’t believe that it happened,” he adds. “I’m waiting to wake up tomorrow and [find out] like, ‘That actually never happened to you guys.’”

Justin Bieber cuddles with wife Hailey in new video for Dan + Shay collab, ‘10,000 Hours’

Catherine PowellFirst comes love, then comes marriage, then comes…your first music video together.

Justin Bieber stars along with his wife Hailey in the video for his new Dan + Shay collab, “10,000 Hours.”

In fact, the whole video is an ode to married love, with Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney’s wives also co-starring.

It features all three singers serenading their wives with the love song as we see home movies of their relationships playing out on a screen. We also see Justin and Hailey as they cuddle and kiss in a bed together surrounded by flowers.

The clip ends with all three couples sitting together on a set covered in rose petals.

“10,000 Hours,” which came out today, was described by Justin as being “wedding music,” and he meant it literally.  Dan + Shay sang the tune on Monday for Justin and Hailey when they got married for the second time in front of family and friends in South Carolina.

Florida Georgia Line wants to collaborate with John Mayer next

ABC/Image Group LAFlorida Georgia Line has collaborated with some of the biggest name in pop, including Bebe Rexha, the Backstreet Boys, The Chainsmokers and Hailee Steinfeld. Now, the country duo is plotting their next big crossover hit.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley reveal that they want to work with John Mayer.

“Our kind of M.O. on collaboration is when the time is right and when the song is right,” Tyler explains. “We love writing with all kinds of artists… Whether the song turns into anything or not, we always try to learn from other artists and we just love that approach, but when the magic happens you can’t kind of stop it.”

They certainly have a good track record when it comes to hit collabs. Their song with Bebe, “Meant to Be,” just won the Academy of Country Music’s Music Event of the Decade Award.

The duo recently wrapped their Can’t Say I Ain’t Country Tour and say they’ll be getting back in the studio to continue work on their upcoming fifth album. They’ll also be heading back to Las Vegas in November for their limited residency at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

Sheryl Crow, Stevie Nicks and Maren Morris team for upbeat rocker “Prove You Wrong”

The Valory Music Co.Two pop/rock icons and one country-pop crossover star are joining forces for an upbeat new anthem.

Prove You Wrong” comes from Sheryl Crow‘s upcoming album Threads, and features Sheryl teaming with her pal Stevie Nicks, as well as Maren Morris, the country star who provided vocals on the pop smash “The Middle.”

The track features all three women singing about how, despite their ex’s prediction, they’re doing just fine now that he’s gone.

“You said if you left, I’d be laid up in a bed of tears/I’d be goin’ crazy ’cause without you baby/I’d be sad and lonely ’round here,” they sing, but then add, “It wouldn’t take much to prove you wrong/I got my mind made up, got my high heels on/It wouldn’t take much to prove you wrong.”

The track also features guitar work courtesy of The Eagles’ Joe Walsh and country star and current Eagles touring member Vince Gill.

Sheryl tweeted, “Such an honor to collaborate with @StevieNicks, my hero! And what a joy to welcome @Marenmorris into our little club of fierce female rockers!”

An incredulous Maren, meanwhile, tweeted, “I’m on a song with @SherylCrow + @StevieNicks,” followed by the “brain exploding” emoji.

Sheryl’s album of all-star collaborations, Threads, comes out August 30.  Among the guests on the album: the late Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt, Mavis Staples and, reportedly, Keith Richards, Don Henley and Chris Stapleton.

Maelyn Jarmon wins ‘The Voice,’ handing coach John Legend his first victory

Trae Patton/NBCMaelyn Jarmon, the New York City waitress with perfect pitch, despite being deaf in one ear, ended her fairy-tale run Tuesday night by being crowned winner of season 16 of The Voice.

Jarmon’s coach, John Legend, notched a victory in his debut season on the show, adding a The Voice championship to his EGOT status.

Maelyn, 26 and born in Frisco, Texas, finished ahead of three country artists on coach Blake Shelton‘s team. Twenty-five-year-old Louisiana native Gyth Rigdon was runner-up. Soulful Alabama country singer Dexter Roberts, 27, and 22-year-old Texas native Andrew Sevener finished in third and fourth places, respectively.

Coaches Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine had no team members remaining in the competition.

During the two-hour finale, each finalist performed with an acclaimed musical guest. The show began with Andrew joining Travis Tritt to perform Tritt’s song “T-R-O-U-B-L-E.” Maelyn performed an immaculate duet of “Angel” with Sarah Mclachlan; Dexter sang “That’s Country Bro” with Toby Keith; and Gyth stood proudly alongside Darius Rucker to sing the Hootie & the Blowfish song “Hold My Hand.”

Previously eliminated artists also returned to perform group medleys. Mari teamed up with Kim Cherry for a brash version of Lizzo‘s “Good as Hell,” which then switched into Bobby Brown‘s “My Prerogative,” performed by Domenic Haynes, Jej Vinson, Kalvin Jarvis, LB Crew and Shawn Sounds. Later, Celia Babini, Betsy Ade, Lisa Ramey and Presley Tennant performed a rocking version of Stevie Nicks‘ “Edge of Seventeen.”

The musical lineup for the finale was star-studded from beginning to end. The Jonas Brothers performed their new single, “Cool”; former The Voice advisor Khalid performed “Talk”; OneRepublic delivered their new song, “Rescue Me”; Hootie & the Blowfish hit the Voice stage once again to perform “Let Her Cry”; BTS delivered “Boy with Love”; Halsey performed a gripping version of her new song, “Nightmare”; and Taylor Swift claimed the stage at the end with her new hit, “Me,” featuring Brendon Urie.

The Voice has already been renewed for season 17, with the current coaches all scheduled to return.
