Dolly relives 50 years of Opry memories in new exhibit

Courtesy of Grand Ole Opry archives/Les LeverettThis fall, Dolly Parton will celebrate half a century as a member of the Grand Ole Opry with two sold-out performances October 12 at the Nashville institution.

The Opry will also mark the occasion by unveiling a rare Dolly exhibit on September 3.

Dolly Parton: My Opry Memories features 24 iconic items from her closet that she’s worn throughout the last fifty years, either at the Opry House or the historic Ryman Auditorium. That includes the dress the Country Music Hall of Famer wore on the night of her Opry induction in 1969.

While Dollywood features an elaborate museum called Chasing Rainbows that’s dedicated to the icon, it’s rare to be able to see Dolly memorabilia outside the park. Earlier this year, Diamond in a Rhinestone World: The Costumes of Dolly Parton was on display for a little more than a month at L.A.’s Grammy Museum.

Dolly’s Opry exhibit will run through October 31, with tickets going on sale Wednesday.
