Trisha Yearwood‘s latest hit, “Every Girl in This Town,” came out in June during the week of CMA Fest.
Just hours after its release, the Georgia native would perform it for the first time for the fans who’d come to Nashville for the annual gathering. But she admits she had no idea how it would affect her.
“I wasn’t prepared for how emotional I would be,” she explains. “Because I don’t know what it is about this song, but it kind of gives me goosebumps all over when I sing it.”
“And then I want to cry — and I’m not a good singer/crier,” Trisha confesses. “I can’t do both of those together at the same time, so I had to kind of keep it together.”
“And I was blown away by — the song had been out since six a.m. and people were singing along,” she adds. “And I was like, ‘Something’s happening here.'”
Trisha was right, of course. In a matter of days, “Every Girl in This Town” would become the highest-debuting song of her career so far. It’s the title track of her new album, Every Girl, which comes out August 30.
