Midland turns a relationship on the rocks into “Cheatin’ Songs”

Harper SmithMidland continue to share tracks from their upcoming album Let it Roll with the release of “Cheatin’ Songs.”

Staying with their traditional country sound, the trio of Mark WystrachCameron Duddy and Jess Carson called on frequent songwriting partners Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne to create the song, which is about a man who wonders if his partner is cheating on hm.

“She’s bringin’ back cheatin’ songs/The kind of hurt that gets you singin’ along/Something circa 1973/She’s lying with him and she’s lying to me,” the trio sings with their trademark twangy harmonies.

“Cheatin’ Songs” follows a handful of other tracks the band has shared from Let it Roll, including lead single “Mr. Lonely,” “Playboys” and “Put the Hurt on Me.” The album arrives in full on August 23.
