Lindsay Ell reveals how Keith Urban set the bar on the kind of entertainer she aims to be

ABC/Image Group LALindsay Ell is currently one spot away from country’s top twenty with “What Happens in a Small Town,” her duet with Brantley Gilbert.

But that isn’t her only superstar collaboration. Last year, Lindsay teamed with Keith Urban on “Horses,” for his Graffiti U album.

“If you were to tell ten-year-old little Lindsay that she was gonna have a song with Keith Urban,” she tells ABC Radio, “I would’ve said you were crazy!”

The Aussie superstar also invited Lindsay to join him on his shows when he took the Graffiti U World Tour to her native Canada. Along the way, Lindsay says she was inspired by Keith’s attention to detail.

“We were [sound] checking ‘Horses,'” she recalls, “and Keith spent the next 45 minutes to jump down in the VIP section and make sure the sound in the VIP section was good.”

“Because he’s like, ‘These people pay the most for their tickets, but they usually get the worst sound, because they’re right up front by the stage.'”

As a relative newcomer, Lindsay says that helped shape the kind of entertainer she wants to be.

“I’m like, ‘That is so cool!'” she declares. “Keith Urban does not need to do that. But he does, because he cares so much. And he wants the show for his fans to be as good as it can be.”

“So being around him and just his presence, and his band and crew, was such a wonderful learning experience for me,” says Lindsay.  “Because it was like, ‘All right, if that is [where] the bar is set, then I think that’s a pretty good direction to shoot for.'”

Lindsay’s currently in the United Kingdom with Chris Young. In June, she joins Brantley on his Not Like Us Tour.
